ISOC Kenya membership & outreach committee has introduced training on Online Harassment and Safety as part of its outreach efforts. The training was piloted at Kenyatta University students on the 13th of February, 2017 where the most active and eloquent students in debating on the rights of the boy and girl child received special prizes for their efforts.
The training is deemed especially important this being an election year in Kenya and consequently, enhanced awareness of online violence is paramount. It was carried out by ISOC Kenya's Chairman for Membership and Outreach Ida Ng'ang'a and Outreach Committee member Albert Migowa. In commending the Chapter's efforts, the Kenyatta University Director of the Gender Institute, Dr. F.K. Nyamu noted that sexual and gender based violence is not only physical, and that it manifests itself in different ways including in the digital space.
This training is part of ISOC Kenya's commitment to digitize both rural and urban communities beginning with sensitization and empowerment.
